Purchasing Power Parity

A fair price in one country can be unaffordable in another. A developer in San Francisco and a developer in Lagos might have the same skills and ambitions, but vastly different purchasing power.

PPP discounts are a win-win: they help developers worldwide access our content, while supporting our ability to keep creating high-quality classes. Developers who don't need the discount can pay full price, knowing they're helping make education more accessible for others.

We work out your discount from your location and local economic factors. If you're eligible, a banner appears at the top of the cohort page offering the discount for your country.

The discount is not applied until you click Apply discount in that banner. Once you do, the adjusted price appears on the cohort's card and carries through to the Stripe checkout page. If you never click it, you pay the standard price.

PPP discounts apply to a single seat on the cohort. It is a one-time purchase, and the discounted price shows on the cohort's card and carries through to the Stripe checkout page.

Two purchases it does not reach. Team seats are quoted at the standard price, because seats already carry their own volume discount. If you bought a class first and are putting what you spent towards a cohort seat, that credit is worked out from the standard price and the PPP discount is not applied on top of it.

PPP discounts go up to 50% on their own. When combined with an active promotional offer (such as a launch or retirement sale), your PPP discount stacks with the promo, and the total is capped at 70% off.

Once you've applied the PPP discount from the banner, stacking is handled for you at checkout. You don't need to enter a PPP code, and you don't need to pick between offers. If you're eligible for both, you get both.

When you're eligible, a banner at the top of the cohort page shows your country, the discount on offer, and an Apply discount button. After you apply it, the banner reads Applied and the cohort's price drops to the discounted figure. If a promotional offer is active, that figure is the combined one you'll pay at checkout. There are no coupon codes to hunt down or special links to find, just the one button.

Eligibility is determined automatically based on your location and various economic factors. We intentionally keep the specific criteria private to prevent abuse and ensure the discounts go to those who genuinely need them.

• Look for the PPP banner at the top of the cohort page. It names your country and the discount available there.
• Click Apply discount. Prices update straight away and the discount follows you to checkout.
• Changed your mind? Remove the discount from the same banner and pay the standard price.
• There are no coupon codes to enter, no application process, and no paperwork proving your location or income.

If you apply the PPP discount for a country, your payment card must have been issued in that country. Someone taking the India discount, for example, needs to pay with a card issued in India. Cards issued elsewhere will be declined at checkout.

We check this because the discount is meant for people actually living and earning in that country. Keeping it honest is what lets us keep offering it.
